So, everybody wants everybody else to please them ... so what's new! We as human beings love ... no, relish the idea of 'yes' people waiting on us hand and foot ... massaging our egos and telling us 'How great thou art', how pretty you are and that you're the best thing since slice bread. The funny thing about it is, that we're like ostrich with our heads in the sand, oblivious to the fact that these people are pumping us full of bullshit.
The Agenda
Newsflash! These people who are pumping us full of bullshit have an agenda, whether good or bad ... oh yes, mostly bad. They are using us for a means to an end and if they have to kiss our asses to do it ... they will and in the end they would have accomplish their goal and we would be at the brink of suicide wondering 'Why me?'. Why you? ... because you are stupid!
How many times have we heard the tired old story in one form or the other of the Rich, Dumb Manager and the Poor, Devious Subordinate. Where the poor subordinate did what he or she was told, all the while plotting and putting his/her scheme in place to oust the dumb manager, whose heart is puffed up with vanity and arrogance that he/she have someone to push around and emasculate, not knowing that that seemingly weak subordinate wants that nice managerial job you have, desperately. We all know how the story goes and how it will end so I don't need to go on. Ah! Yeah! The Poor, Devious Subordinate had an agenda all along and executed it with precision to the end.
Knowing who you are
There is a saying that goes 'the heart wants what it wants!' No, ladies and gentlemen, what we want, or rather what we NEED is some SELF-CONTROL and a lot of wisdom. When we have those two, along with a dash of confidence, then we would be better able to spot the leeches and free-loaders a mile away.
If we know who we are and WHOSE we are ... then we don't need people or their words to validate us, we would've already known that. All they are doing is confirming what we already know about ourselves. Wise people know how to say 'Thank you!' at the compliments and move on to the next thing.
All you Ego-Mongers, GET OVER YOURSELF!! The universe does not center around you. Try pleasing other people for a change.
